Official Opening

On Friday the 10th of June, Saint Ultan’s Project was officially opened by none other than Uachtarán na hÉireann, Mary McAleese. We had been waiting five years for the big day and it was absolutely worth the wait. The President was taken on a tour around the building, first into the Parents’ Room to see an art class in action before visiting the young children of the preschool and engaging with club members and staff of the afterschool. She officially opened the brand new school library and popped in to see Múinteoir Gary’s 2nd class engage in a stimulating lesson.

All the while our hall was packed full of guests that included parents, children and friends of the project who were being entertained by our Preschoolers, Vocal Harmony Group, School Orchestra and C.O.P.A.C Orchestra. Children of the student’s council did us so proud as they confidently introduced different segments of our afternoon’s procession.

The President arrived in the hall following her tour of the project to rapturous applause. Here she delivered a heart warming, inspirational and engaging speech that captivated her audience. President McAleese noted that Saint Ultans was “The Perfect School” and in turn, she gave us the perfect official opening.
