Hi!
My name is Gary Jones.
I first came to St. Ultans in 2006 when I worked as a Temporary Language Support teacher. I really enjoyed being a part of such an exciting new school, so after I went away to finish my training as a teacher in Coláiste Mhuire, Marino I was delighted to return to St. Ultans in 2008 to take up a full-time position and have been here ever since!
So far, I’ve taught 1st Class, two Communion Classes and our first Confirmation Class in 2013. One of my highlights so far has undoubtedly been receiving a visit to my class from the then President of Ireland, Mary McAleese when she visited to officially open St. Ultans in 2011.
This year, I work in Reading Recovery. It’s an exciting programme that allows me to help children in Senior Infants and First Class who have found it difficult to pick up the skills needed for reading. I also teach Maths to groups of children from 1st and 6th Classes.
I am also a member of the In-School Management Team. My role includes responsibility for coordinating the whole school approach to History, Geography and Science. I also run our Green Flag programme, School Gardening, Health & Safety and am co-coordinator of our Comenius Programme with Múinteoir Emma!
