Steve Simpson visits St. Ultans

Every April in St. Ultan’s we learn about an artist, and the children create displays based on that artist’s work. This year our artist was Steve Simpson. Steve has drawn cartoons for Danger Mouse, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as comics like the ‘Beano’.

Have a look at the photos below to find out more about Artist Appreciation April and Steve Simpson.

Have a look at the video below of all of the children’s displays from Artist Appreciation April. Keep an eye out for Múinteoir Brian’s class and their special ‘Views of Cherry Orchard’. Múinteoir Brian’s class were our ‘Senior’ Winners. Múinteoir Sarah’s Class won our ‘Junior’ Artist Appreciation April competition.

Here are some more photos from Steve Simpson’s visit today, and our special Assembly with him.

Active Schools Week 2022

This week in St. Ultan’s it’s Active School Week.

The overall aim this week is for children to be more physically active and to try new activities.

Children will be encouraged to take part in daily activity challenges.

Many teachers might do PE everyday this week. Some other things different classes might do include;

- Beat the Teacher Challenge

- Learning about the Food Pyramid

- Learning about healthy diets, reading labels and the amount of sugar in certain drinks/foods

- The Keepie Uppie Football Challenge

- A project on a sports star

- Learning about Growth Mindset

Have a look at the Cherry Orchard Park Running Routes in the pictures below, if you are looking for activities to join in on and challenge your children in the afternoons also.

Have a look at our Living Gallery

All of the classes in St. Ultan’s get a chance to display their beautiful and creative artwork in our ‘Living Gallery’. The other children come to visit and admire the art in the Living Gallery. They can also leave compliments after their walk of the gallery.

Right now ‘Múinteoir Molly’s 1st Class’ are having their turn. Have a look at some of their lovely art, and the fabulous compliments some of the children have made.
